BIOGRAPHY
Hello and welcome to Storyteller's Keep. My name is Kathleen Huggans. My writer's hack is Kathleen McKiernan. Most of my friends call me "Kayt" (pronounced "Kate" - clever spelling courtesy of my dear friend, Lindsay). My family calls me "Kathy," "Kat," and even "Kat-fish" after Catfish Hunter, the right-handed pitcher (1965-79). My co-workers call me "Kathleen." But please don't call me Katie. Bad things have been known to happen.
McKiernan is a family name. I adopted it when I decided to evolve from hobbyist storyteller to published author. Kiernan is also my mom's middle name - a small tribute to her.
Raised in the Eastern Sierra Mountains, it was apparent from early on that I was a teller of tales both tall and wide. Only the town's elevation (6500ft) could rival the spinnings of my imagination. (Probably due, in part, to the limited oxygen.) I spent most of my childhood engaged in many grand adventures with my five siblings and a diverse circle of friends (both real and conjured).
Currently, I am a Software Quality Engineer at Intel. In my off time, I write, paint, draw, sew, construct, sculpt, and putter. A self-proclaimed "Jaqueline" of all things, I spend a great deal of time in my studio entertaining the characters in my head.
